IA Northern Ireland provides support to people living with a stoma or internal pouch. We cover every area of Northern Ireland and all of our officers have experienced this surgery.

Meetings are held in Belfast and at other locations throughout the province.

Volunteers for Research – would you like to help test an early warning device for stoma bag leaks?

If you are an adult aged between 18 and 70 years, you are invited to take part in this novel research project testing an early warning device for stoma bag leaks. Participation will require you to attend two appointments at Ulster University, Coleraine over a 3 day period. An initial study introduction session will be held to give you an overview of the device.

NI Survey

Many people in Northern Ireland have been asked to shield. The Patient and Client Council is facilitating engagement with those who have been advised to shield due to the risks of COVID-19 and those who are supporting them.

The purpose of this engagement is to understand the impact shielding has had on individuals, to inform the steps and processes that must be considered now and in the future and to ensure the voice of those impacted contributes to this.

This is the beginning of a constant conversation.

Please find below a link to a self completed survey. This should take no more than 15 minutes to complete. The findings from this survey will outline key themes for the Department of Health to consider when adapting current restrictions for those shielding.
